With that as the title, I feel no apologies are needed for broadcasting the below! :)

Do you like antiques? Do you enjoy just looking as much as you enjoy buying? Do you get inspiration by how others set up and use antiques?

If you answered yes to any of the above, if you don’t feel like driving from estate sale to estate sale, or if you’re just looking for something really interesting to do, come out to the Richardson Civic Center and enjoy the bi-annual Antique Elegance Show! (website)

Don’t recall the antique shows of your youth – it’s not all chintz, toile, and Staffordshire figurines (though there will be some)! It’s a great mix of everything from the pre-Civil war, Victorian era (mid-1800s), turn of the century, Jazz Age, Art Deco, World War 2, up through the 1950s. There are no crafts and no reproductions – just authentic antiques! This show sees customers from all over America, and from Europe and Asia, because of the quality of the dealers and their good eyes, reasonable prices, items are in excellent condition, linens, laces, and clothing. Click here for pictures from past shows.

While you’re there, you may see a familiar Antiques Roadshow face – Steven Porterfield, our show promoter, is an appraiser!

There will be two lectures that are worth much more than the price of admission!:

  • The History of the Christening Dress
Lecture by Julia Brown – Elegant Baby of Virginia Beach VA
    Saturday – 1pm
  • Depression Glass: An American Heritage
Lecture by Janet Clauson of Dallas TX
    Sunday – 1 pm

Come, look, buy, and enjoy! (You may even see people styled in fashions that are over 100 years old!) If you have any questions about the show, please comment or email (TheAtticBirds@gmail.com).
