Something that is frequently overlooked at many estate sales are fabric scraps. It seems like just about every sale we go to has a small box of pieces somewhere in the home. Sometimes on the dresser, sometimes in the craft or sewing room, sometimes even in the garage — but somewhere in the home is a collection of scraps that meant something to the homeowner.

Frequently the scraps are lace or otherwise embellished fabric pieces that were either carefully removed from a garment that was too well-loved to be worn anymore. Sometimes they’re just pieces of fabric from unknown places that – like the ones we find and collect – are just waiting for the perfect re-incarnation.

I have no idea what I’m going to use these beautiful scraps for! Perhaps they’ll make it on to some super creative project – or perhaps they’ll just stay in a box until my own estate sale. We’ll see. Until then, I’ll look at them from time to time, hoping for inspiration, and enjoying the fact that these pretty little pieces of history are mine.
