I believe that vintage photos need to be brought out of the shoe box and given new life. These typically monochromatic glimpses into other people’s lives can be used to brighten the lives of those we know and love. Unlike our current digital age where shutterbugs click thousands of pics, film was a treat, a commodity to be treasures and used for special occasions. Because of this, I often feel that old photos are better. They’re rarer. And as they do now, they capture some of life’s most important moments.
Take, for example, this handsome little troublemaker (his smile is a dead giveaway):
His life as a discarded polaroid has been brought to an end. His crooked smile, cowboy hat, and swirled tie will bring greetings to many as I plan to put his mug on cards. I copied the original photo onto card stock and gave this little man a bit more personality through colored pencils.
With his freshly colored duds and rosied (mischevious) cheeks, all he needed was a fitting backdrop.
This little guy found a home on my husband’s birthday card. He received a warm welcome and is sure to continue a successful new career!
