Friday night was opening night of The Dallas Opera’s production of Turandot. As the wife of the Emperor, this meant I got to dress up and go out. Only trouble? The gorgeous dress my girlfriend lent me was too big. This, however, of all fashion fixes, was the easiest. Remember that fabulous stomacher from the Downton Abbey watch party? She came to the rescue in dual form–pinning the excess fabric and adding more glamour. I was asked several times if the brooch was part of the dress or an addition, and I smiled each time I bragged said it was vintage.
To the fashionable of yesteryear who saved this brooch from demise, I thank you! These gorgeous sparkles kept me from wearing the Emperor’s “new clothes”!
