I’ve always loved when old buildings keep their character as they’re repurposed and renewed. There’s been a lot of construction in downtown Dallas lately, some rejuvenation, but some tearing down, and I noticed this building:
Though it’s difficult to make out, I love that this building has obviously already had two lives. I can make out one layer to be “Titche-Goettinger”, a Dallas department store from 1902-1928 (in this location), and another may be “Roy Green Co”. This side wall was previously hidden by its neighboring building, which is likely how the paint stayed so well intact.
It’s future is in the hands of a developer – I hope they take the time to preserve other bits of its history.
