Greetings from the most epic road trip! My sweetie and I are on our 2 1/5 week, ~4,000 mile road and we are having a blast. We’ve driven from Waco to Michigan for my brother’s wedding and will be swinging over to Morgantown to close on house!
Our first big stop was St. Louis for a couple of days. We saw a Cardinals-Cubs game (go Matt Carpenter), went up in the Arch, got fresh Budweiser straight from the source, and found this little gem of a neighborhood: Cherokee Road.
Cherokee Row is 6 blocks of antique store heaven on Cherokee St. There’s a good balance of your traditional antique store vibe with a little quirkiness and cafes and restaurants to quell any cravings (I recommend eating at the Bird and Barrel – yum!). We went on a Monday so most of the stores were closed (bummer – should’ve planned better), but even with a limited selection we were able to spend several hours perusing everything from the fine french antique to the dusty smelly junk that someone priced.
Ryan found the perfect office chair in one store, but sadly we did not have room for it in the car with everything else necessary for the road trip (we might have over-packed a bit).
All was not lost though, as we did find a really unique shaped crystal decanter to add to our growing collection (sorry for the bad trunk picture, but we’re road tripping).
I love the petiteness and bell shape of the decanter. I haven’t been able to find a marking, but the woman working in the shop guessed Waterford because part of the design looks like Lismore pattern.
I doubt it is Waterford, but who knows? And who really cares? We got a souvenier from our trip and that decanter will hold many memories and some bourbon (or whiskey).
