The Red Hen taught me to sew the other week, and part of my starter kit was this book.

She said that this book taught her how to do everything and explained fabrics and stitches in a way that made potential projects make more sense. As I embark on solo projects, I’m delving into this book.

When we made our chair slipcover last week, Red Hen winged in (pun intended). With over 50 years of sewing experience under her belt, she can do that! But, until I’ve successfully executed a few more straight seams, I’ll be sticking with how the book tells me to do everything.

If you have a novice sewer, consider adding this book to enhance their skillset. For what it’s worth, the inspiration photos in my 1969 version are fantastic! (Amazon or vintage)
