Earlier this week Ryan and I attended a 1920s-themed soriee at our favorite “hot spot,” Tin 202, in Morgantown. We love this bar/restaurant, it has amazing food, delicious cocktails, a cool vintage vibe with tin ceilings and chandeliers, and the people are fabulous. If you come and visit us, we will bring you here.

The party was a blast. We went with another couple (who we actually met at Tin 202 our first weekend in Morgantown) and did our best to dress the part.

I did not have a 1920s dress in my closet so I had to improvise. I decided to check out what Rent the Runway had. I thought about the silhouette of the 1920s and picked out a black dress with a large ruffle on the bottom that looked like a dropped waist.

I found a long strand of pearls and a headpiece on Amazon for pretty cheap to bring in the 1920s vibe. I also wore a large (faux) emerald cocktail ring and some blingy earrings to amp up the sparkle. Makeup was a slightly smokey eye and velvety red lip. Finally, I capped off my look with my vintage fur (I will take every opportunity to wear her). I am pretty proud of the look I assembled for less than $60!

My friend wore an ivory beaded dress and long strands of pearls that were her grandmothers (points for going actually vintage). The guys also looked dapper in their vests and bow ties.

At the party, we drank fancy cocktails (mine champagne, of course) and ate oysters and celebrated the near end of the semester! The difficulty in waking up for class the next morning was a testament to the fun we had the night before! It was a great kickoff to the our first holiday season in Morgantown!

If you have a fancy night out and need something to wear check out Rent the Runway. It’s so easy and gets you access to dresses that might normally be out of budget!

Here’s to a holiday season that is the bee’s knees!
